Year 6

Thanks Constance for being the first to send your diary entry- excellent job! Poor Grandad. Still I bet he loved the snowball fight. Well done to all Year 6 who sent in a snow diary entry- sounds like you all enjoyed the snow. Mr. Hoban.

Tuesday 5th January 2010

Today was great! School was cancelled because of the snow and because the teachers didn’t want us to hurt ourselves.

In the morning I got dressed ready for school. My Grandad came up to take me to school while my Mum went to work; she started a new job today with Bupa. It was snowing really heavily outside, so my Grandad rang up school to ask if it was open. When they said no I was really happy that I got another day off school. I got re-changed and flopped on the couch.

It snowed right through the morning and into the afternoon. At about 3:00pm me and my Grandad had a snowball fight! It was great fun!

Later on my Mum came home from work and my Grandad got into his car and tried to start it up, but it wouldn’t. My Grandad decided to stay and have tea with us then try again. We had Spaghetti Bolognese for tea! It was delicious!

When my Grandad tried again it still wouldn’t start up so he had to sleep the night.

Tuesday 5th January

Today was really fun I had a great time!!! I came into my living room and my Mum was there so I asked why and she said she couldn’t get there. So I did what I normally do had a wash  had my breakfast and watched TV, then when I started getting dressed and it was snowing hard so my mum looked if the school website said if we were going and it didn’t so she commented and said way they didn’t put it down. Then my Dad called up school for along time and then he got through and I heard they said no!!

So I was watching TV on my laptop and then me and my Dad started to build a snowman. But it didn’t go as we expected my Dads hands were numbing. I wanted to finish but we went in and when we got to the house Tess started to eat it!!! My Dad was shouting at her and stuff

It was a really great day I loved it sooo much I’m glad we had a week off!!!

Tuesday 5th January 2010

 

Today I woke up saying back to school, so I got dressed, had a wash and went downstairs for my breakfast.  Dad, Mum, Niamh and I were watching the news and it mentioned some schools were closed in the North West.  So my Dad got his laptop to look at Niamh’s school The Deanery first.  Her school was closed, she started annoying me, then I phoned school and asked if my school, St Andrews, was closed.  They said to ring back in 10 minutes.  When I rang back they said it was closed.  Yay!!!

 

Later I went to my Grandma and Grandad’s house because my Mum and Dad were at work early the next morning!!!

Today I woke up looked out of my window to see loads of snow on the ground!!

I ran downstairs shouting ” its snowed” my mum didn’t believe me at first but then she decided to take a look for herself she was shocked my mum then made my breakfast and had a cup of coffee I quickly ran up stairs got dressed brushed my teeth all ready for school. Then the phone rang I wondered who it could  be ? my mum answered it she screamed ” oh no! ” my mum then shouted for me to come downstairs to tell me the spectacular news school was shut  I was delighted. I then rushed outside and called for my friends we had a snowball fight it was great. Today was fantastic !!!!!!!!!!

Tuesday 5th January

In the morning I woke up and wondered why my mum wasn’t in her work clothes. When I asked her she said that the school that she worked at was closed. I thought to myself I wish my school was closed and guess what,  it was. I was really happy so me, my sister, my mum and my dad went out to build a snowman. It took ages but it was worth while because ours was the biggest snowman in the street. After that I went in and got warm. I hoped it would snow tomorrow so I could have another day off school!

The best thing I did over the holiday was go to a tournament with my team Ashton Athletic. We put two teams in the tournament and both teams got to the final. We won the group with 11 points in 5 games only drawing 2 games. Also Luis and Miles went to the tournament. We won the final 3-1 and I scored in the final, and did I mention I got the golden boot.

Tuesday 5th January 2010

Today I got up and went downstairs for my breakfast. My mum was on the phone with my nan and she told her that school was closed.

So I got dressed and went downstairs. I got my coat, hat and gloves on and went outside, I made a snowman with my brother and then we had a snowball fight. When my dad was walking home from work, me and my brother hid behind a wall and threw a snowball each at him. Later on, I had to go in for my tea, I had chicken and chips, it was amazing!

After tea, me and my family played on the nintendo wii we got for christmas for a couple of hours and then watched TV and went to bed.

The Snow

On January 10th I went to sledging at Ashurst Beacon with my 3 sisters and my sisters boyfriend. First we went McDonald’s then we went sledging, the best part was having a snowball fight. When we landed there the car got stuck in the snow and everyone came running over helping to push the car. Finally we got it off the snow. The worst part was when I went down the sledge with my sister and because I sat at the front all the snow came bursting up in my face and all over me. One time my sledge turned over with me on it so I went rolling down the hill on my own, it really hurt but it was funny.

Whilst I was away, over the New Year holidays, I saw some horses.  We had just been for a walk to the swimming pool where we all had a great time. They let us have some toys in the pool and included in them toys were some inflatable seats. We spent about 3 hours in the pool overall. In that time me and Gabrielle had done some swimming while Michael and Jamie just splashed about! After about 1 hour Lisa, Michelle and the boys had joined in a game of basketball in the water!! It was fantastic.

On the way back from the pool me, Gabs and my mum went to see some horses on the farm next door. This nice woman brought a really soft horse over who was called Rani. She was really nice. We all really enjoyed going away!!!

Today was school, so i dragged myself out of bed and went down stairs. My mum put the news on and it was the same stuff as always. I got my cocopops and started eating them when my mum came in and said there was no school because of the snow. I didn’t  believe her but  looking out of the window she was right!

Later on after getting dressed, me and my mum went outside to clear the driveway but I got bored so my mum built a snowman. At  the other side of the road this boy and his brother built one, so did a man about 5 houses down the road.

Today was the snowiest day of my life!!!!!!!! by David

Tuesday 5th January 2010

Today was brilliant! I woke up and got ready for school and then went down to breakfast were my mum told me that school was cancelled for the day. My Dad soon came home from work after trying to get there for three hours!

 Later on me, Sophie and my dad started building snowmen and then had a snowball fight.  My sister threw a snow ball at me and it went down my back and started to sting, so I had to go in a change my clothes. I didn’t go out after that but Sophie and my dad did and I started to take pictures of them having a snowball fight.

I really enjoyed my day off!

Schools off-  yes! Getting my shoes on to go outside to the snow. I started to build a snowman, but it fell down. Me and my dad watched people and cars slipping and falling. I went outside with my friends and had a snowball fight, I came in cold and soaking wet. Getting off my wet clothes. I thought about my dad who was sat at work, freezing cold. Then my Nan came down to drop off something for my mum. Then she went home and I went on my games, then we went shopping.

Best day in the snow (5th January)

Today I woke up and got dressed. My mum and me were listening to the radio to see if the school was closed. I also looked on the computer, but then my mum rang school to see if it was open- it wasn’t so I quickly ran upstairs got changed and watched TV. An hour later I went on the computer and played a new game. I got bored so I went out and built a snowman it was about 3/4 the size of me.

Later on that day I called for a friend with my sister (Chloe) we went to a park and stayed for about an hour, after that we went to somewhere called the valley. When I came back home I watched a bit more TV.

While I was off school because of the snow, we decided to go up to Haigh Hall to walk through the woods to see what it looked like in the snow.  As we walked we came across Red Robins bobbing from branch to branch, and rabbits playing together.  When we reached the hall we stopped for a hot tea and watched people sledging. After the drink we found an old bin lid and used it as a sledge, I was nervous at first but soon got the hang of it.  On the way back me and my mum jumped around in the fresh snow.

When we got home we built a snowman which we shaped into a penguin, which was cold and hard but a lot of fun.

Snow 5/1/10

Today was great! I woke up and got dressed and went down stairs for my breakfast. It was snowing hard outside so my mum got her laptop out and went on the school website to check if school was open or not because on the news it said, ‘most schools are closed in the north west’. School was closed so I went up stairs and took my uniform off and went on the wii console with my sisters. Later on about 3:00pm I went outside with my mum and my sisters and built a snowman. After on my dad came home and all my family went sledging we had lots of fun!

Snow.

In the first week of the Christmas holidays I went to Wigan Park with my 2 other brothers and my 3 step brothers. I took my black sledge and then we all decided where we were going to sledge. We decided to go down the steps on the sledge. I thought it was great. My little brother didn’t go down the steps because he might get hurt. When we all did that we decided to go down the hills on it my little brother went down the hills on my knee so he didn’t fall off. Then we went home and had a snowball fight. I put some snow down my little brothers pants.

Snow Days

Last week when we had an extra week off school, I was very happy. I went into my garden and started to make a snowman and as I walked outside I slipped. I was alright so I started to make my snowman. It turned out good but it was very small. Now it has all melted away, but it lasted about for a week. I tried to make another snowman but there was not enough snow. The next day I went to my nanna and grandads and I went for a walk with my nanna and Jake (my nanna and grandads dog).
